Is UPSC Drug Inspector Class 1 or Class 2?

UPSC Advertisement No. 07/2026 does not label the CDSCO Drug Inspector post as Class 1 or Class 2. It uses the current central-government classification: Group B, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

In older or state-service terminology, people may informally compare Group B with Class II. The safest answer for this recruitment is the exact wording in the UPSC notification rather than mixing state and central labels.

Gazetted status is part of the notified service classification. It should not be confused with Group A: a post can be Group B and Gazetted, as this Drug Inspector post is.

State governments and recruiting commissions may use different service rules, class labels, pay levels and promotion structures. A classification from an MPSC or another state Drug Inspector post should not be copied to the UPSC CDSCO vacancy.
